Sworn Translator & Interpreter
About me
Professional, reliable & smooth
Seok Sun Sihn
(alias 'Sunny')
Sworn translator and interpreter
Dutch-Korean & English-Korean
Hi,

I am Seok Sun Sihn, Korean interpreter and vertaler based in the Netherlands. If my name is too difficult for you to pronounce then you can call me 'Sunny'.

I have studied Dutch Language and Culture at University Leiden in the Netherlands. I've got my diploma Master of Arts in 2004. After my study I started working immediately as a translator and interpreter.
I am born in Seoul and since 1998 I live in the Netherlands. When I was in Korea I worked as an international PR officer at the Korea Securities Depository in Seoul. That was a kind of Central Bank for shares and obligations in paper. In Korea I have got my diploma Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature.

Start as a literary translator Dutch-Korean

After my studies I actively started looking for a possible translation job. But that was not easy. Because a translation job was not everywhere to be picked up for you. I wanted to start with some Dutch books. Many times I contacted Korean publishers. At the beginning it was difficult because I had to prove myself and convince people who didn't know me at all. Bus once I got my foot in that world things got better. Finally I could develop myself into a literary translator. You can find some titel on my CV: View my CV.

Grown into a competent interpreter Korean-Dutch and Korean-English for various inspections for which high quality requirements are essential

Since 2009 I have regularly worked as an interpreter during various quality inspections. One of the most challenging but rewarding inspections for which I am often hired is the so-called GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) inspection for pharmaceutical industry. Major pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer, MSD, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson are one of my regular customers.

Not only for pharmaceutical GMP inspections but also for other various inspections or audits I work often as a competent and enthusiast interpreter. Inspections with regard to medical devices, food chains, food safety and agricultural sectors to name a few.

I am a competent interpreter who understands various industry-specific languages. Food Safety authorities such as the Dutch NVWA and Belgian FAVV are also one of my regular clients. Many clients are very satisfied with my work and they appreciate working together with me. Not only the local hosts in Europe are satisfied with my work but also the Korean inspectors.

For an optimal interpretation during such an inspection the interpreter needs to have sufficient knowledge of the applicable terminology. In addition, the interpreter must be familiar with the applicable standards in order to understand what is being said between the inspectors and various SME's. Because without these essential qualities, the Korean inspector may have to waste his or her valuable time to explain something to the interpreter. When it comes to quality standards, Korean terminology is much more difficult to learn.
To ensure my interpretation competence and expertise, I read lots of relevant reading materials for a good preparation, such as Pharmaceutical GMP guidelines, KGMP & ICH guidelines, ISO 13485, Korean Medical Device Act, HCCP, Korean Special Act on Imported Food Safety. The result is a big satisfaction of my clients. They never forget to give me a nice compliment at the end of a successful inspection. To my big pleasure!
